Maseke – a Mobile Wilderness Walking Safari

Venture into the heart of the bush, on this 3-night walking safari through Maseke Balule - an 8,000-hectare private reserve sharing open borders with Kruger National Park. Just a half-hour transfer from Hoedspruit Airport, this trail is also easily accessible by flight or drive.

Each day, an experienced Big-5 walking guide and tracker leads you through bush and over koppies, revealing the subtle signs of wildlife and the stories etched into the land. Meanwhile, our ground team moves your mobile camp to a new, remote location each evening. Your dome-style tent, with a comfortable stretcher bed and hot water bucket shower, provides all the creature comforts you need, whilst keeping fully in tune with your wild surrounds.

Brunch and lunch are served beneath the trees, while late afternoon game drives, offer the chance for up-close encounters with the Big Five and other wildlife. Pause to toast the sunset at a scenic viewpoint before returning to camp for a warm shower and a hearty dinner beneath an expansive, star-filled sky.

Scheduled departures are on Mondays and Thursdays, though special arrangements can sometimes be made. The trail is closed from 1 December to 31 March, when the heat and rains peak.

Walking the Maseke Trail is a chance to slow your pace, heighten your senses, and feel fully connected to a living, breathing wilderness — a rare and intimate way to experience the Greater Kruger in its purest form.
