This self-drive itinerary is perfect for the independent visitor who love holidays that are active and adventurous but still comfy and luxurious.
Itinerary
Day 1
On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, South Africa, you will make your way to the Avis desk, where you will collect your vehicle -an automatic with air con and an appropriately sporty model like a Toyota RAV 4 or something similar. Your adventure begins!
You will then drive to the elegant Cape Grace Hotel marvelling at Table Mountain looming over you. This will be home for 3 days while you explore Cape Town and enjoy the amazing activities lined up for you.
Day 2
An early morning start for your half-day hike up iconic Table Mountain. This hike will give you a fantastic sense of the lay-of-the-land in Cape Town and the photos you take from the top will be some of your best. Glowing with accomplishment you’ll spend the rest of the day at your own leisure.
Day 3
Today you’ll go to the South Western tip of Africa in style! Cruising along in a chauffeur driven sidecar for a full day’s tour, you’ll enjoy all the magnificent views and stops of the Cape Peninsula, including visiting the penguins at Boulders Beach and driving along the breath-taking Chapmans Peak Drive.
Day 4
After breakfast, drive to Franschhoek in the famous Cape Winelands where you will enjoy a luxurious night at the charming Franschhoek Country House. In the afternoon you’ll enjoy a guided E-Bike wine farm tour. This is a lovely way to absorb the essence of this mountainous area while doing some wine tastings.
Day 5
Head over the mountains to Elgin - the high altitude apple growing region of Cape Town. Todays activity gets you right into the beautiful Cape Fold Mountains where you’ll enjoy a thrilling canopy tour for over 4 hours! After this invigorating experience you will continue to Hermanus for a night in a luxurious Indian Ocean facing room at Schulphoek House.
Day 6
After breakfast, you will enjoy a morning sea kayaking adventure during which, depending on season, you have a good chance of spotting whales. Afterwards, you will drive to Mossel Bay, through undulating wheat and canola fields, where you will spend a night at African Oceans Manor, a five star luxury guest house on the beach.
Day 7
Early morning before sunrise you will drive to the launch site for your hot air balloon flight. The sunrise views of the Outeniqua Mountains are magical. Toast your marriage with a class of bubbly afterwards and enjoy a delicious breakfast so that you are fuelled up for your drive to Knysna. This Garden Route town will be your home for 3 nights. You’ll stay in a deluxe suite at St James of Knysna which is right on the edge of the Knysna Lagoon.
Day 8
A three hour Kayak and lilo adventure which explores one of the incredible gorges that the Garden Route is known for, is your unforgettable experience for the day.
Day 9
Today you will enjoy 90 minutes fully guided cruise to the Heads, learning about marine life and keeping en eye out for sea-horses and otters. Oysters and complimentary wine/soft drinks add to the experience.
Day 10
After breakfast, you will take a drive up the coast on this very scenic section of the N2 to the Bloukrans Bridge for your bungee jump which includes jump video and photos.
After your jump, you will drive to the famous surfing town of Jeffrey’s Bay where you will spend 2 nights at the beach front Diaz 15 House.
Day 11
Best activity for last? Today you are booked for a Tandem Skydive - 9 500ft (approx. 30-second freefall) giving you mind boggling views of the coastline of the Garden Route for miles and miles. Jump includes Handycam video.
Day 12
After breakfast, you will drive to Port Elizabeth (now Gqeberha) Airport where you will return your rental car and fly home (Flight on own arrangements).
