Gravity Adventures - Kloofing in Cape Town.

Gravity Adventures is an adventure tour company that is constantly innovating so that we can provide superb experiences that will have our clients coming back again and again. Our passions have ended up being our profession. We specialize in wilderness-based trips that encompass the full adventure spectrum from exciting bite-sized day trips close to Cape Town to memorable multi-day expeditions in remote places.

Owned and operated by experienced adventurers, we have a deep knowledge of topography around Cape Town and other areas of South Africa where we run our adventures. We love exploring and scouting for new, pristine places where we can develop our outdoor activities. One of our many exploratory trips resulted in our summer kloofing option which we are proud to introduce to our clients.

Set deep in the rugged and beautiful Cape Mountains, the Upper Witte River seldom sees visitors. The hour and a half drive from Cape Town passes through the pretty Boland town of Wellington and accesses the mountains via the historic Bainskloof Pass. This 30-kilometer winding road was built in 1949 by the famous road engineer Andrew Geddes Bains. The walk-in starts at the summit of the pass and provides an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful flora, known as fynbos, and the craggy Cape Fold Mountains.

Over millennia the Witte River has carved out a rocky gorge and the stream drops over waterfalls into inviting pools of sparkling clean water and through boulder gardens that form fast channels and rapids. Hosted by our qualified adventures guides, you will follow the river course on foot wearing helmets and wetsuits for safety. Big jumps, slithering down water-worn rockslides on your bum, boulder hopping, and pool crossings are the order of the day.

It’s a fun, feisty day in an out of way place so it does require some fitness and balance and is also weather dependant. Like all mountainous areas, a good knowledge of weather conditions is important, and our mountain-savvy Gravity crew will ensure you head out in the right conditions. Active kids from the age of 8 are welcome.
