Orange River Rafting Safari, NC Province
This multi-day, wilderness rafting expedition is a life-changing journey on the Orange River through the spectacular Northern Cape desert, perfect for those looking for something unique and authentic.
This is a wild camping experience in small groups that will immerse you into the peaceful rhythm of nature; sleeping under a dome of stars, the excitement of white water, the relaxation of floating on tranquil sections. All accompanied by highly skilled river guides, delicious food and ‘travelling’ ablutions. There are premier options for those who prefer luxurious accommodation at the end of each day of adventure. This 5-night adventure starts and ends in Onseepkans on the South African side, so no tedious border crossings or passports required.
Day 1
Meet your guides at Red Rock River Camp, our home base on the banks of the Orange River. Enjoy a tasty meal under the stars before settling in for the night, camping or staying in a guesthouse on a nearby farm.
Day 2 to 4
Pack your bags in the morning and, following a thorough safety briefing, it’s time to start paddling. The trip is totally self-supporting. The guides carry everything needed to set up camp each night and food for all meals. A complete break from civilisation.
The first day offers fast flowing channels and gentle rapids and an introduction to the rocky wonderland of the Northern Cape. Your guides will pick a lunch stop and prepare a great midday meal. The pace is unhurried. There is plenty of time to swim, enjoy a spot of fishing or just relax. You can even bring a book or two. 1-2 hours of paddling in the afternoon will bring you to your camping spot for the night. Gather around a roaring campfire, share stories of the days escapades, stargaze and enjoy a delicious meal.
Each day follows this pattern and along the way you will experience exciting rapids, breathtaking scenery, a portage over the spectacular Ritchie Falls, incredible desert starscapes and the simple pleasure of really getting away from it all.
Day 5
A relaxed paddle to the takeout point. You will be transported back to base camp for your last night with us- another fireside, starlit evening of laughter and comradery.
Day 6
Depart at your leisure after a light breakfast.
