This is a 6 Night / 7 Day Garden Route Adventure Tour, starting in Cape Town and ending you in Port Elizabeth, making your way on self-drive services (where we provide you with a rented vehicle and GPS Unit), including Swellendam, Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Tsitsikamma and Port Elizabeth.

We can add pre and post tour services, add / take way or change where needed to make a perfect adventure according to your needs!

Day 1 | Aan de Oever, Swellendam

Swellendam
Perfectly situated at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, the quaint heritage town of Swellendam is South Africa’s third-oldest town. It is Idyllically positioned in the scenic Overberg area and serves as an excellent base from which to explore the magnificent surrounding landscape including the Little Karoo in the hinterland. The streets are lined with beautifully restored Cape Dutch buildings dating back to 1745. Visitors can explore the Dutch Reformed Church and Drostdy Museum complex, visit the surrounding nature reserves and enjoy the local farm stalls selling an array of locally produced jams, liqueurs and baked goods. Other popular activities include: hiking, kayaking, camping, game viewing, horse riding, and star gazing.

Day Itinerary
On arrival at the Cape Town International Airport, South Africa, early in the morning, you will make your way to the Avis Desk, where you will collect your rented vehicle. (1 x Group C vehicle - Toyota Corolla or similar with manual gears, air-conditioning and 1 x GPS Unit)

From the Airport, you will make your way over the mountains and valleys on the Garden Route to Swellendam.  Here you will spend (1) night on a bed and breakfast basis at the Aan de Oever.

Day 2 | Mooiplaas Guest House, Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn
Located along the well-known Route 62 in South Africa’s beautiful Klein Karoo, the charming town of Oudtshoorn is known as the ostrich capital of the world. It is surrounded by numerous ostrich farms and the golden arid landscape of the Karoo. Visitors can enjoy the locally produced wine and port; sample ostrich meat and biltong; learn about the ostrich feather boom at the C.P. Nel Museum; and visit the world-renowned Cango Caves, the largest cave system in Africa featuring ancient rock formations and sparkling stalactites and stalagmites. Other popular activities include: mountain biking, paragliding, horse riding, and taking a day trip to the quaint town of Prince Albert over the scenic Swartberg Pass.

Day Itinerary
This morning after your scrumptious breakfast, you will make your way to Oudtshoorn, where you will spend (1) night at the Mooiplaas Guest House on a bed and breakfast basis. En-route you can visit the Cango Caves and Cango Wildlife Ranch at own leisure. This afternoong you will visit the Highgate Ostrich Farm and enjoy Stargazing at Mooiplaas. (Included)

Day 3 | Oyster Creek Lodge, Knysna

Visitors can look forward to an array of markets offering delicious food and organic locally-made goods, explore the town’s picturesque waterfront and quaint streets, adventure through the lush forest, skip over streams and catch a glimpse of the multicoloured Knysna Loerie, take a ferry trip to the famed Knysna Heads and sample the local oysters. Day Itinerary
This morning after your marvelous breakfast, you will head further on the Garden Route to the area of Knysna, where you will spend (2) nights at the Oyster Creek Lodge on a bed and breakfast basis.
Enjoy your 2.5 Hour Untouched Kayaking with Aqua Booties and Wet Suites included, before your John Benn Sunset Cruise of 1.5 hours.

During this time one will explore the deep, hidden world of the serene Storms River gorge by gently meandering along the extensive, bottomless pools, caves, ancient forests, and pass underneath the suspension bridge surrounded by the quiet sounds of nature and skyscraping rocky cliffs. At the low-water point, the kayaks are exchanged for relaxed floating lilos specially designed to access the narrow parts of the gorge.

Day 6 | The Beach Hotel, Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth
Set on Algoa Bay in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province, Port Elizabeth also referred to as PE, is known as the Friendly City as well as the Windy City and hopefully, if you stay here you will get a chance to experience the former and not the latter. Port Elizabeth was established to home British settlers who were brought out on a government-sponsored programme to provide a buffer between the Cape Dutch and the Xhosa conflict. The little port grew from there and today it is the gateway to the beautiful Garden Route and serves as an excellent base to explore the Eastern Cape’s magnificent game reserves and pristine beaches. Visitors can explore the Addo Elephant National Park, inhabited by hundreds of elephants; and other wildlife, climb the area’s largest dune at Maitland’s Beach and jump on a boat tour to spot rare seabirds and whales.

Day Itinerary
After a great breakfast, you will make your way to Port Elizabeth to the beach side, where you will spend your last night on the Garden Route at The Beach Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. En-Route you will be doing the Bungee Jumping Experience at Bloukrans Bridge. (Only 14 years and older are allowed!)

If it’s adrenalin you’re after, look no further than the Bloukrans Bridge. At 216 metres high and with a 7 second free fall, Bloukrans is the world’s highest bungy jump. Your experience of the highest bridge in Africa doesn’t have to include a bungy jump, however, as you can also participate in a walking tour of the structure.

As of 1 August 2016, should a renter fail to cancel their booking prior to the date and time of reservation and fail to pick up their vehicle within 24-hours of that date and time, then a charge for non- cancellation will be applied to the method of payment presented at the time of booking.
** Please note that the deposits and any other extras the rate excludes may not be included in the voucher value. The customer should settle direct with Avis Rent a Car. The deposits will be collected at time of rental and can only be done by the customer tendering a recognised bank credit card bearing the client’s name or an AVIS charge card. Debit cards are not accepted. Authorisation for the applicable amount will be obtained on the credit card at time of pick-up. When the customer returns the car and no charges are applicable, Avis Rent a Car will cancel the applicable authorisation. Any other charges will be levied on return of the vehicle.
