6 Day Baviaans Cycle Tour

Itinerary:
The Baviaans Cycle Tour is a 266km mountain biking trip over 6 days in the Baviaanskloof region. The route is moderate on jeep track, dirt roads, district roads and some single track. The Baviaans features majestic mountains and rolling plains. With stunning sunsets and clear, starry nights, it offers a taste of life at its unspoilt best. The tour starts at Steytlerville, known for its astonishing variety of semi-desert vegetation.

The entire route lies at the foot of the majestic Baviaanskloof Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Cape Floristic Region World Heritage Site.

All meals are catered for. Cycling commences after breakfast and lunch is served at the next farm. Afternoons are spent relaxing, reading, hiking or playing games.

Accommodation and ablution facilities are shared, with no available single supplements. A guide will accompany you and a support vehicle will be within reach.

Day 1
Arrive at Rietfontein Farm Stay, Steytlerville late afternoon. You will have time to settle in, check your bicycles and meet the crew before dinner.

Day 2
The tour starts with a circular route on the farm Rietfontein around the Rooikranz and Bobbejaans Mountains on jeep tracks.
Lunch is served once back at the farm (40km).

Day 3
Cycle to Hadley Farm on district roads (40km) with an option to cycle down to Grootrivier Poort which allows for a steep climb on the return (20km).

Day 4
Cycle to Royal Karoo Safari Guest Farm using the back roads and single track going into the farm. A late afternoon game drive will be available (78km).

Day 5 and 6
Cycle to Noorspoort Guest Farm via Mount Stewart (60km). On the last day you cycle back to Rietfontein and depart (28km) after tea/coffee.
