Abseiling in Magaliesberg near Johannesburg

Hang out on the spectacular cliff faces of the Magaliesberg, usually the preserve of vultures, dassies, baboons and rock climbers. Leaning back into the dizzying space below you and having to ‘trust the rope’ might feel a little daunting at first but soon you’ll be swinging down the face, using your feet to push against the rock and propel you out into space- an exhilarating sensation.

Abseiling is easy to learn, it’s just up to you to get your head in the right space. Experienced adventure guides set you up with all the proper equipment and monitor you carefully as you make your way down the crag-they can take control of your descent if they see you are losing your nerve. You can also stop and breathe and dangle for a while, take in the sweeping grassland views below you or maybe have a staring competition with a crag lizard.
