The Diversity Trail is a upmarket 5 day, 4 night slackpacking hiking trail. The trail traverses over the Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy, Grootbos Nature Reserve and the Walker Bay Coastline and dunes in the Western Cape, Overberg region.
Throughout the five days and four nights, you’ll be spoilt on this 40km hiking journey through untouched fynbos, into secret forests and along ancient coastlines. Groups set their own pace and distances can be adjusted according to the group’s interests and capabilities.
On this slackpacking trail, we’ll treat you to our locally sourced cuisine for every meal. Sip on the region’s finest wines at the end the day. Hikers experience pristine hiking trails over private land with the focus shifting daily to include birding, the regions spectacular fynbos and forests, coastal ecology, early human origins, local wines and fynbos art.
The joy of this trail is that for the entire trail you are based at the beautiful Bella Vista Country House. Bella Vista has magnificent views overlooking Walker Bay and a rim flow pool. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and large comfortable suites to relax and be pampered after each days hike. We can accommodate up to 10 hikers per group and you can also book as a single or couple to be joined with others.
Our trails are led by professional FGASA registered trail guide, Christoff Longland, who has a wealth of knowledge about the region’s history, natural wonders, beautiful landscapes and remarkable ecology.
All meals are included, some with a unique botanical twist, as are some of the excellent local wines. Expect beautiful trails, a diversity of experiences, some exercise and lots of fun in a beautiful natural landscape.
This is an all-inclusive package, with the exception of drinks (wine, beer, soft drinks and some spirits are available for purchase at Bella Vista). Limited snacks will also be available each morning.
