Jeffreys Bay Adventures and things to do! Jeffreys Bay or J-Bay, as the locals call it, is synonymous with surfing. J-Bay was once a sleepy little fishing town, but the discovery of Supertubes, a world class tubing right hand point break, regarded as one of the best in the world, put a stop to the quiet life in this part of the Eastern Cape.
The initial discovery of the excellent waves in this region was made famous by the cult surf movie ‘The Endless Summer’. Today, surfers travel here from all around the world especially during the winter months when regular winter swells offer waves of up to 20 feet.
Luckily Jeffreys Bay also has surf options for those of us that are not pro. Further along the shore, the Point offers intermediate waves and beginners will enjoy the more gentle swell at the oddly named ‘Kitchen Windows’.
On a calm day, have fun with Sandboarding, Zip Lining or Cliff Jumping.
In the summer months the wind typically flattens the sea, but there is no need to feel despair as the ocean dishes up a different kind of thrill – Windsurfing and Kitesurfing!
The long stretches of beach are just waiting for you to join a Horse Riding Adventure and the unspoilt Eastern Cape nature is perfect for Hiking and Slackpacking.
Jeffreys Bay has something on offer for every type of adventurer!
