Graskop is an attractive small town, with wide streets and a historical feel, snuggled on the edge of the Drakensberg Escarpment. In a 1971 South African journal of mining and metallurgy the area around Graskop is described as “…very beautiful and the climate healthy and there are large timber plantations and an abundance of clear water…” Sounds idyllic, and it is. Centrally situated in the Panorama tourist region it takes a couple of minutes to drive to a profusion of natural wonders; waterfalls, gorges and famous rock sculptures like Gods Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes and Pinnacle Rock.
