Caledon Adventures
The little Overberg Town of Caledon might look like it's sleeping in a patchwork blanket of wheat and canola but it’s a bustling agricultural hub with easy access to some great adventures located in beautiful unspoiled environments on the coast and in the nearby mountains. A 1-hour scenic drive on the N2 gets you from Cape Town to Caledon. Once called Bad-agter-die-berg (bath behind the mountains) due to the hot springs that bubble up here, the days where Caledon flew by in a blur as you drove up to the Garden Route are gone.
Reasons to stop apart from hanging out in mineral-rich hot water are; A hair-raising swoop down a mountain on the longest zipline in the world-K3, Quad biking through fynbos and rugged mountain terrain, and nighttime star-gazing tours that take advantage of the rural darkness. The Overberg is a region that is known for its incredible plant diversity (over 8500 species). Many of the adventures based near Caledon showcase this special plant type know as fynbos.
