Many visitors to South Africa will do a Garden Route tour and then, if they have time, go somewhere else for Safari, but there are plenty of Safari destinations on the Southern Coast and many include the very special activity of a walking safari.

The beauty of a walking safari is the way you are immersed in nature; many small intricate natural wonders that you would miss if you were in a vehicle will be notice by you or pointed out by your guide when you are on foot. The fragrances of medicinal plants, the sounds of the bush and the sun and wind on your face, all intensify the experience. You also have the chance to witness animals on a more equal footing, in a way a walking safari gives us a brief sense of what our prehistoric ancestors would have felt like. Of course, this is all done under the careful guidance of professional safari guides, so the risk of walking close to wild animals is mitigated.
