Flying Trapeze in South Africa. What is flying trapeze? Where can I do it in SA?

If the words 'flying trapeze' conjures images of a big-top tent, clowns, and acrobats, you would be correct. This circus discipline has been made accessible with flying trapeze rigs and trained instructors operating around the country.

This form of trapeze - a horizontal bar hanging from two ropes - is called 'flying' because you take off from a platform with the bar in your hands. A safety harness attaches you to the trapeze and, when you dismount, a net is below to gently catch you. The sensation of swinging is enjoyable.

This is a technical activity made even more rewarding if you carefully follow instructions from trainers. They will guide you to transition to the knee hang position and, if you feel confident, they can guide you to a back-flip dismount!

Wear shorts or long pants (no dresses or skirts) and unrestrictive clothing. Make sure that long hair is tied up and that your pockets are empty. Shoes are not worn. A weight limit may be applied.
