SA Adventure Summit 2024 – Champagne Valley, Drakensberg

From 11 to 14 June 2024, South Africa’s top adventure travel minds gathered in the breathtaking Champagne Valley of the Drakensberg for the SA Adventure Summit 2024. Hosted by Dirty Boots and proudly supported by ActivityBridge, SA Tourism, and others, the four-day event delivered adrenaline, insight, and collaboration.

Day 1

Set the tone with a full day of outdoor experiences. Delegates took part in ziplining, hiking, rock climbing, sidecar tours, and canopy adventures—highlighting the best of what South Africa’s adventure operators offer. The day wrapped up with a relaxed networking braai at Mountain Splendour, thanks to ActivityBridge.

Day 2

Brought a jam-packed conference schedule with powerful talks and panel discussions. Keynote speaker Rachel Colenso captivated the audience with her story, “I Shouldn’t Be Alive.” Other sessions tackled vital topics like adventure safety, responsible tourism, and error management. Early birds enjoyed trail running, paragliding, Segway rides, and a photography walk with Jacques Marais. A surprise team adventure closed the day.

Day 3

Continued with deeper industry insights, including national guiding standards and leadership strategies. Jacques Marais returned for a session on adventure photography, sponsored by Insta360. The evening ended on a high note at Drakensberg Brewery with great food, drinks, and connections.

Day 4

Concluded with the SATSA Adventure Chapter AGM, capping off a successful summit focused on collaboration, growth, and the future of South African adventure tourism.
