Rustenburg Adventure Activities

Even though Rustenburg is the largest city in the North West province and fastest growing town in South Africa due to the proximity of platinum mines it still retains some of its ‘dorpie’ atmosphere of wide frontier-style streets and old churches with defiant steeples. Bushy highveld greenery pushes in at its fringes and undulating hills and craggy sandstone ridges provide lovely locations for charming old-world guest houses and stylish lodges making Rustenburg an attractive place to spend a night or three, and a great base for exploring the surrounding area.

The key attractions of Rustenburg are its nearby nature reserves and game parks which include the Pilanesberg National Park, only 45 minutes away. The foothills of the Magaliesberg Mountains give Rustenburg much of its scenic beauty and are also host to a range of exciting activities. A short drive from Rustenburg takes you to the Kgawane Mountain Reserve, home to kudu, impala, red hartebeest as well as many other non-predatory animals. A host of bird species can also be seen by visitors who prefer enjoying their time in nature in quiet observation. Trails take you through forested gorges where streams splash from mountain pool to mountain pool, and then up onto the high sunlit grassy ridges of the Magaliesberg where stunning views will keep stopping you in your tracks.
