Discover the Diversity Trail, a luxurious five-day, four-night slackpacking hiking experience in the heart of the Overberg region, Western Cape. This 40 km trail traverses the pristine Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy, Grootbos Nature Reserve, and the scenic Walker Bay coastline and dunes, offering hikers a unique combination of natural beauty, culture, and adventure.
Throughout the journey, groups set their own pace, allowing for flexible distances tailored to each participant’s interests and fitness level. Hikers explore untouched fynbos, secret forests, and ancient coastal landscapes while being guided by Christoff Longland, a professional FGASA-registered trail guide with extensive knowledge of the region’s ecology, history, and landscapes.
The Diversity Trail is fully catered with locally sourced meals and daily wine experiences featuring some of the region’s finest selections. Along the way, hikers enjoy birding, fynbos and forest exploration, coastal ecology insights, local wine tastings, and botanical art experiences, making each day a rich and varied adventure.
Accommodation is based at the stunning Bella Vista Country House, featuring spacious suites with en-suite bathrooms, panoramic views of Walker Bay, and a rim-flow pool for relaxation after each day’s hike. Small group sizes of up to 10 hikers ensure a personalized and intimate experience, though singles and couples can be paired with others.
