Hermanus Adventure Activities and Fun Things To Do
On the western side of Walker Bay, Hermanus is considered one of the best land-based whale watching destinations in the world. Sure, the cliff-top walk offers stunning views, but seeing these enormous creatures from a boat makes a whale watching trip truly unforgettable.
In summer, when the whales have moved on, you can enjoy a sunset cruise or a general sightseeing trip, spotting interesting animals and plenty of birds. If that sounds a bit leisurely, join an escorted sea kayak tour and paddle around the bay to burn off some of the calories from last night’s feast at one of Hermanus’s many excellent restaurants.
For the truly adventurous, get your head underwater and take the plunge. Diving off Hermanus is fantastic — slightly warmer than Cape Town but with a similar marine life variety, so there’s plenty to discover.
And if you prefer to stay dry, there’s still plenty to keep you busy. Try rock climbing, paintball, quad biking, or a round of golf. You can also enjoy wine tasting, explore the beautiful cliff-top walk, or visit the museum at the Old Harbour.
