Full-Day Kloofing Adventure – Smalblaar Canyon
Get ready for a full day of adrenaline and adventure in the rugged Du Toits Kloof mountains. This guided kloofing experience in the Smalblaar Canyon features between four and six spectacular waterfall abseils, ranging in height from 9 to 50 metres. Along the way you’ll enjoy natural rock slides, refreshing swims in crystal-clear pools, and the option to test your courage with cliff jumps of up to 10 metres. Best of all, this canyon is privately accessed, so you’ll have this unspoiled wilderness entirely to yourself.
Your guides will provide all the necessary equipment, including wetsuits when needed, helmets, harnesses, thermals and top-quality safety gear, ensuring a comfortable and secure adventure. The water is fresh and untouched, flowing directly from the mountain just a short distance from the start point, creating the perfect environment for a pure outdoor experience.
The adventure begins early, with trips running from 07:30 until late afternoon. Groups are kept small, usually between four and eight participants, although smaller bookings can be combined. Smalblaar Canyon is conveniently located in the Du Toits Kloof range, only 83 kilometres from Cape Town. The kloofing season runs from mid-October to late March, and for those looking for something truly unique, special night trips are available for returning adventurers. Expect to cover around two kilometres in total, including a steep 900-metre descent with a 350-metre altitude drop, before a short walk out to the pickup point.
This is a full-day adventure designed for thrill-seekers who want to push their limits while soaking up the raw beauty of one of South Africa’s most breathtaking mountain settings.
