The Clarens San Traverse is a fully guided 3-day adventure featuring striking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and the relaxed comfort of charming countryside stays. Led by a charismatic local guide, you’ll explore the area’s most iconic San rock art sites, dinosaur fossils, and the legendary caves of Moshoeshoe’s people.

Day 1 – 13.5km Walk along a Caledon River tributary through farmland to the national monument Schaaplaats rock art site. Discover therianthropes and rain animals painted by ancient shamans. Then climb into the Basotho highlands, passing cannibal caves and taking in sweeping mountain views.
Day 2 – 10.7km Start with a gradual climb into kloofs and forests. Explore hidden caves and two spectacular rock art sites with vivid interpretations of trance ceremonies and tribal life.
Day 3 – 5.5–10km Begin in Clarens town square and follow a river path to a cliffside trail with panoramic views of the town and peaks beyond.
