Bloemfontein Adventures and Fun Things To Do this weekend.
South Africa’s judicial capital, the city of Bloemfontein in the heart of the Free State has many claims to fame. The African National Congress (ANC) political party was founded here and is also the birthplace of J. R. R. Tolkien, author of Lord of the Rings.
Today Bloemfontein is home to more than half a million people and there are plenty of things to keep you busy in this pleasant town.
A visit to one of the many historical or cultural attractions is a good place to start, but real adventure is always just around the corner.
Bloemfontein is situated at the southern end of the highveld and borders the arid Karoo. See the grassland and koppies (hills) from above on a Gliding Adventure. With hot summer days and cool dry winters this is an ideal outdoor location for a Teambuilding Adventure.
Bloemfontein is also a great central location for any adventure holiday in the Free State. Head south to the Orange River for watersports, north to the renowned Highlands Route or drive east to the foothills of the Drakensberg and Maluti Mountains. Here, in the town of Clarens, you can watch the sunrise over the weather-sculpted sandstone cliffs on a Hot Air Ballooning Adventure.
Although Bloemfontein is a long drive from the sea you can still learn to Scuba dive here – so come to the heart of South Africa and slake your thirst for adventure!
