Not surprising when it’s the second-fastest flowing river in KwaZulu Natal and snakes through velvety green hills, the spectacular Oribi Gorge, and peaceful farmlands on its journey from the Drakensberg to Port Shepstone on the Indian Ocean.
Most commercial trips are run down the 24-kilometer Oribi Gorge stretch of the river. Intact indigenous forests still grow along the riverbanks in places and birdlife is prolific.
