False Bay Adventures
False Bay in Cape Town is an adventurers playground, there are at least 20 different outdoor adventure activities to choose from. These include the obvious ones such as boat trips, kayaking, surfing and whale watching. Did you know you can also go shark cage diving, snorkeling and coasteering in the Bay. The great thing about Cape Town is that if the Atlantic ocean side is rough and miserable then the False Bay side is a great alternative. For the first time scuba diver there are some awesome safe dive sites to choose from and great wreck dives also try snorkeling in some of the protected bays but remember to pack a wetsuit.
False Bay got its name because mariners sometimes confused it with Table Bay in the early days. Remember, there were no GPSs back then, and Hangklip was frequently confused with Cape Point, making it easy to get it incorrect. The bay is surrounded by breathtaking landscape and still has a thriving marine life, making for excellent fishing and pelagic birding excursions.
So, the next time you visit Cape Town, make sure to spend some time on the warm side of the peninsula and participate in one or two of the fascinating outdoor adventure activities offered in False Bay. This page has a full listing of those activities.
