Just 11 km from George, Wilderness is the first town that truly shows why this 200 km stretch is known as The Garden Route. Nestled among thickly wooded, vibrantly green hills and bordered by one of South Africa’s largest lake systems, Wilderness lives up to its name as a nature lover’s paradise. Waves create sea mist that lingers over endless golden beaches, while the floodplain of the Touws River forms a series of picturesque lakes, the town’s signature feature.
