For over 30 years, Kwalata Adventure Camps has inspired young South Africans through immersive outdoor learning. Situated just one hour from OR Tambo International Airport in the malaria-free Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve, our camps are designed to ignite leadership, adventure, and personal growth in a safe, natural setting. Built exclusively for school and youth groups, Kwalata offers a unique experience where early morning bush sounds, crackling evening fires, and the rhythm of nature set the tone for unforgettable learning.
We provide two fully catered camps: Phiri Camp, accommodating up to 180 learners, and the more intimate Phiri Enyane Camp for smaller groups. Facilities include bunkbed-style rooms, shared ablutions, and for those wanting a deeper connection with the wild, our basic bush camp along the Moretele River offers nights under the stars and meals by the fire. Kwalata's programmes combine outdoor adventure with meaningful education.
From leadership camps that challenge students through real-world problem-solving, to environmental education focused on sustainability and biodiversity, each camp is tailored to develop life skills, respect for others, and a connection with nature. We also offer specialist options such as hospitality training, biology practicals, and university-level field work, giving learners unique behind-the-scenes exposure to the worlds of conservation, tourism, and community development.
