Addo Cruises and Sand Sledding is the oldest river cruise company on the Sundays River and has many years of experience. We have a passion for this magnificent estuary and love showing our guests the spectacular natural beauty of the area. We offer river cruises and sand sledding cruises. The river cruises can be custom made to your requirements or you can book our standard river cruise. Our ferry boat can carry up to 30 guests and we do cater on request.
Scenic River Cruises: Join us for a Sundays River boat cruise on the The Sundays River Ferry and experience a two- and half-hour leisurely boat cruise on the magnificent and breathtaking waters of the Sundays River estuary – one of the top-rated estuaries in South Africa. Search the river banks, bush and reed beds for a wide variety of bird life and smaller animals like the duiker, bushbuck or the stately Kudu. Marvel at the magnificent Colchester sand dunes and climb up to the top for a breathtaking view.
Sand Sledding Cruise: Sand Sledding (a more glorified version of sand boarding) is the best way to explore and one of the world’s largest coastal dune field systems in the world. These magnificent dunes, known as the Alexandria Coastal Dune System, are situated at the mouth of the Sundays River near the Addo Elephant National Park, a mere 40km from Gqeberha formally Port Elizabeth. The sand dunes can only be accessed by boat and thus the tour includes a 40 minute river cruise.
Sunset Cruises: The “Sundays River Ferry” was launched in April 2007. She was the first all-aluminium pontoon boat on the Sundays River. She is 12 meters in length and about 4 meters wide with a lower and upper deck and seating for 30 people. She comes with on-board ablution facilities and is equipped with sliding gang plank at the bow to accommodate folks in wheel chairs. She is powered by twin 60 hp four stroke petrol engines and is equipped with hydraulic steering. She is ideal for boat cruises in the calm water of an estuary or lake.
