The lush and scenic Tsitsikamma, most northerly region of the Garden Route is home to a number of impressive bridges built to span the magnificent gorges that are a common geological feature of the area.
The Bloukrans and Storms River bridges are two of the highest bridges in Africa and bridge walking over these structures provides an opportunity to get some of the best views of this magnificent area; the forests, mountains, deep, dark ravines and Indian Ocean in the distance. The suspension bridge that crosses Storms River Mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park, hanging just 7 meters from the swirling mahogany waters below, is another exciting bridge walking opportunity.
