Elgin Valley Adventures, a list of things to do.
Ringed by mountains, the fertile Elgin Valley is celebrated for its fresh produce and high-quality wines.
It is a one-hour drive across the scenic Sir Lowry’s Pass and through the Hottentots-Holland Mountains to the centre of the Elgin region, the town of Grabouw. For those travelling onward across the Palmiet River and through the Groenland Mountains to the Garden Route and Route 62, this area is a great en route stop.
The rugged, mountainous terrain of the Overberg offers breathtaking views for hikers. Mountain biking is a popular activity as well as quad biking, 4x4 adventures and waterskiing.
Whether you want to crank uphill on your mountain bike, ride on horseback through acres of fynbos, paddle down a river or explore the orchards on a Segway, the Elgin Valley has an adventure activity for you.
To end the day Elgin-style, fill a picnic basket with chilled wine, freshly baked bread and local delicacies from a farm stall and spread your picnic blanket under an apple tree.
