These animals, also called suricates or “Erdmännchen” in German, belong to the mongoose family and live in tight-knit groups, working together for survival in a harsh environment. With their sharp eyesight, constant communication, and sentry-like behaviour, meerkats are both captivating and highly adapted to life in the wild.
A typical meerkat experience begins before sunrise with a hot drink and a short briefing from an experienced guide. Guests are then transported by safari vehicle to known meerkat burrows, where they quietly wait and watch from a respectful distance. The experience is fully non-intrusive, ensuring the natural behaviour of these wild habituated meerkats remains undisturbed.
