Spelunking in the vast network of tunnels of the Gobholo Caves near Mbabane is one of the most popular adventure activities in Eswatini - and with good reason. Part tour, part expedition, adventure caving is a physical activity where you walk, crawl, body-jam, scramble and slither on your belly through the rocky passages of the cave; some sections are only as wide as the width of your body! You'll move horizontally and vertically - up and down - as you make your way through the cave.

The Gobholo Caves is a vast granite cave system, which is unusual as granite does not typically form caves. While the caves have been extensively explored and mapped, new passages are still being discovered by spelunkers.

Experienced guides show you the way and teach you the best techniques on the more challenging sections. Overalls are provided as caving is a deliciously dirty and muddy activity. Headlamps are also provided and are your only source of light in the cave.

Caving is not recommended for those who are claustrophobic. For everyone else, you will delight in the thrill of the adventure of being underground and exploring the geological wonder of the Gobholo .
