Tracks pass through the wonderful flora known as fynbos. The Karoo weather is ideal for cycling- it seldom rains, and the temperatures are cooler as you gain altitude.
Operators use 4 x 4 back up vehicles to accompany groups, ensuring everyone is well fed and watered and providing the odd shuttle to the top of a tortuous pass for those who prefer that option.
