DUIN IN DIE WEG, a well established Guest farm and Outdoor Education Centre since 2004, is located along the Orange River, in the Northern Cape, about 70 kms from Upington on the N10 main road to Groblershoop. The name is derived from our particular environment, being one of the few places where the Kalahari dunes and the Orange River meet. In the earlier years, after windy conditions, sand was blown over and covered the roads in the area, hence the dune in the road. The farm encapsulates all the contrasts of the beautiful Northern Cape – from the Kalahari dunes to the great green belt along the Orange river. This is a truly unique place where different ecosystems come together.
Being located on a privately owned farm that comprises over 2 000 hectares, it is the perfect destination where people learn, train and enjoy what the Kalahari environment offers. We also want to inspire people to become familiar with their natural heritage and to treasure, protect and enjoy it through programmes and experiences that are designed to make their times with us truly unforgettable.
If you are unsure about what to do after school, we can definitely help you to provide direction for your future. Duin in die Weg now offers a great Gap Year for school leavers (men and ladies).
Our programme is a full-time Gap Year, presented in four quarterly modules. Combining Adventure & Sports; Farming & Agriculture; Nature Conservation and Personal Development in ONE practical program, makes the program unique. It enables students to learn valuable and practical life skills in general, and also for the professional world. Students who are not able or interested in the full programme, can opt for the volunteer / internship option (any number of the specific quarterly modules). The admission requirement is matric (grade 12). Students who successfully complete the program, will receive a formal Certificate.
