Hiking Through the Dramatic Rock Formations of the Cederberg
Wupperthal, often referred to as the “Jewel of the Cederberg,” is a secluded gem nestled in the Cederberg Mountains of the Western Cape, South Africa. Its charm lies in its remote location, breathtaking scenery, and striking rock formations, as well as the unique culture and lifestyle of its small population. Here, it feels as though time has stood still for a century.
The Wupperthal66 Hike is an exhilarating four-day slack-pack hiking route covering approximately 66 km through the stunning Cederberg Mountains. This trail offers much more than just a daily journey from point A to point B. It provides an immersive experience set against a backdrop of ancient rock formations, ochre-colored valleys, mountains, and canyons, all in the company of fellow adventurers.
In line with the Live the Journey ethos, you will enjoy warm hospitality from our support team. Despite the logistical challenges of setting up camps in such remote locations, you can expect top-notch effort from our team. Notably, two of the overnight sites are accessible only by 4x4 vehicles.
The Wupperthal trail is a new initiative by Live the Journey and the Wupperthal community, launched in 2022 with special permission. This unique hike is gaining popularity and takes you through some of the most untouched areas in South Africa.
