Wild Coast Walks - Slackpacking operator on the Wild Coast, South Africa.
We organise slackpacking in small hotels and eco-friendly guest lodges along the lower Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape.
The full trail is approximately 80 km in length and covers the popular “hotel hopping” route between Kob Inn and Crawfords at Chintsa.
Different hiking packages (usually from 3 to 5 days) are offered to meet your need and hiking ability. Most day walks are about 15km in length and can be done in a morning with an early start giving plenty of time to relax at your overnight hotel. Travel light with a local guide while your bags get transported from place to place and spend your nights at restful stopovers with all meals provided.
In addition to the standard 5 night trails between Kob Inn and Morgan Bay (Meander Trail) and between Wavecrest and Chintsa (Sunshine Trail) we also run a number of shorter trails which can be combined with others if necessary.
MINI BREAK: Shorter 3 day tour for busy, city-stressed people who just want to get away for a few days R&R on the Wild Coast. Easy walking along empty beaches and a couple of nights of hotel pampering.
ADVENTURE: Combines river based activities and game viewing with hiking between Morgan Bay to Chintsa.
TRAIL RUNNERS: This is for those who can hike/run longer distances and carry light day packs without need for guides or porters. Budget options at B&B’s and backpackers can be arranged as alternate to hotels.
You have 2 choices to get to the Wild Coast - self drive to the start hotel and leave your car there or fly into East London and get a shuttle from the airport and back again after your hike. Whichever way you get there, don’t miss out on an opportunity to explore the beautiful and peaceful Wild Coast.
For independent travellers (self drive tourists or road trippers) we also offer a “Beach and Berg” hike experince with a “Mini-Break” trail on the lower Wild Coast followed by a 6 hour drive the next morning to the Southern Drakensberg for a 4 day slackpack hike of the Giants Cup trail and a one day tour into Lesotho up the iconic Sani Pass.
