Umdoni Park Nature Reserve is situated near Pennington on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
The 210ha Umdoni Park, “a gift to the nation”, is an area of exceptional natural beauty. It is managed by the Umdoni Park Trust and derives its name from the Umdoni trees scattered throughout the estate.
Whether you like hiking, running or cycling, make sure you go past the Environmental Centre or Pro Shop to get information. Trails take 15 minutes to 2 hours.
Enjoy excellent bird watching, spotting the nesting crowned eagles as well as the rare and majestic Dahlgrenodendron natalensis tree. On Saturdays, take part in the the 5km Umdoni Park Run at 8am, meeting at the Umdoni Park Environmental Centre. An environmental officer is on site every Sunday morning from 07:30 to 11:30, who will be able to direct you to the various routes.
Amid the trails, you’ll find the Umdoni Park Golf Course and restaurant overlooking the ocean. Accommodation, incl. historic Botha House, is available on site.
