The Lion Trail is a guided outdoor walking tour in Cape Town with a twist.
The day is structured in such a way to showcase the unique diversity and beauty of Cape Town’s nature, with guests passing through fynbos, forest, beaches and finishing with an electric scooter ride along the Sea Point Promenade. The stories that are told on the tour are a major feature of the day and guests learn about the wonders of The Great African Sea Forest, the incredible details of fynbos, the legends of James Barrie and Catarina Ras and the myths associated with Table Mountain.
Led by a knowledgeable local guide and conceptualised by a local travel journalist, the route was specifically chosen for its spectacular views and sense of adventure – all adding up to one of the best ways to really immerse yourself in Cape Town.
The tour starts and ends at The Green Point Lighthouse, and takes five hours to complete. The route follows the promenade, before taking a path to the crest of Signal Hill, where hikers enjoy views over both the Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl. The trail then loops around the back of Lion’s Head, down the forests of The Glen and towards Camps Bay Beach. The trail continues along an unusual coastal path, all the way to the iconic Clifton beaches, where hikers can have a quick dip before jumping on electric scooters and gliding back to the lighthouse, where it all began. There is also an option for a private, catered hike. This includes two canapé picnics, featuring local snacks and food, and a rooibos mimosa.
