Kleinemonde West River Canoe Trail in the Port Alfred area, Eastern Cape.
This trail is a canoeing/hiking combination on the Kleinemonde West River. Experience the beauty of the river while paddling 8 km and hiking 4 km through Nyala Valley Game Reserve, to ‘Lily Pad’ hut.
A birder’s paradise – fisheagles, loeries, spoonbills, kingfishers and herons. On entering the game reserve look for giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, various buck and warthog.
An undercover lapa is equipped with a large braai area with grid, kettle, sink with running water, long-drop toilets and a donkey-boiler for hot showers.
Enjoy a sundowner on the deck while listening for Narina Trogons and Forest Weavers. Take in the sounds of nocturnal birds and creatures around you after sunset.
