Mossel Bay Sailing Trips welcomes you aboard Kiyana our beautiful 40ft catamaran and into the pure and exhilarating world of sailing. Once the bowlines are thrown off the power of the wind begins to do its work. As the white sails start to billow, you’ll begin to feel the thrill and sense the salty freedom that makes this sport so addictive. At Mossel Bay Sailing Trips we like to share our passion for sailing. Our aim is to host a sailing adventure that represents true sailing, an experience that is fun and exciting, but also relaxing.
Our excursions take a couple of hours and include an entertaining visit to Seal Island, a cluster of rocks just off the coast, home to about 2500 Cape fur Seals. Our crew have in-depth knowledge of local fauna and will provide engaging commentary on these playful animals as well as other marine inhabitants and visitors that you might spot- dolphins, sharks and whales to name a few.
There will be plenty of chill time too- were you can relax on the trampoline, lazing around like a sleepy seal in the sun or take a plunge into the Indian Ocean, which is pleasantly warm in the summer months.
As we skim, leap and float through the water, the beauty of the magnificent coastline, will capture your imagination; the Outeniqua Mountains a purple haze in the distance, the sweeping sickle-shaped curve of white beach around the bay and the mist from the pounding ocean rising up to soften the land.
We encourage our guests to bring their fishing gear and try their hand at catching a Cape salmon or yellowtail fish for their dinner. By prior arrangement Mossel Bay Sailing Trips can also organize a good old South African braai (our word for barbeque) on board.
A maximum of 12 guests can be accommodated on Kiyana for any occasion; romantic valentines sail with sundowners (a colloquial term for a sunset drink), birthdays, family gatherings or team-building. Set sail with us and your special function will be unforgettable.
