The Hoerikwaggo 5 day Cape Camino Slackpacking Trail in Cape Town.

Table Mountain was known as Hoerikwaggo to the indigenous people of Cape Town, which means ‘mountain in the sea’.

The Hoerikwaggo 5 day Cape Camino takes pilgrims on an off-road adventure along the Southern slopes of Table Mountain. This 5-day itinerary is slightly more challenging than other sections of Cape Camino; with inclines and declines, and sometimes difficult terrain like rocky paths and beach sand. Pilgrims need to be experienced walkers to enjoy this route.

Every day there is an opportunity to reflect and meditate while walking in nature. Ocean views, beachscapes, fynbos thickets, and endemic plant and animal species are abundant on the path.

Camino hosts provide comfort at the end of each day and pilgrims are encouraged to explore the local town’s eateries for meals.

Day 1: Constantia Valley into Hout Bay
Day 2: Chapman’s Peak
Day 3: Noordhoek to Scarborough beach walking
Day 4: Scarborough to Smitswinkel
Day 5: Cape Point

Pilgrims can walk the route by joining an existing group or pick their own dates and be added to the Camino calendar.
