De Hoop Adventures offers horse riding, hiking, canoeing and 4x4 trips in Fouriesburg, Free State.

De Hoop Farm is the home of Ventersberg Stables, offering guided horse trail experiences in the mountains and farmland surrounding the village of Fouriesburg (35km from Clarens) in the Eastern Free State for more than 20 years. A family business with a small team of experienced local guides, we now also offer hiking and mountain biking trails, guided 4x4 trips, canoeing and camping.

All our routes are circular, with breath-taking views of the Maluti, Rooiberg and Witteberg mountain ranges. Many include a viewing of San paintings and a spell-binding stretch of forest along the Klein Caledon River.

We cater for all riders, from novice to experienced, with rides ranging from 30 minutes to a full day. Our special overnight rides along the Lesotho border include accommodation at a local guest farm.

Our 5km and 9km hiking and mountain biking trails are clearly marked, and the gradient is mostly gentle. Only a medium level of fitness is required to enjoy them.

Our 4x4 routes are guided by a lead vehicle and are suitable for experienced drivers. We also offer canoeing trips on the town dam (subject to dam water levels), including an exploration of the water tunnels – a geological wonderland. Catered picnics at scenic spots can be arranged as part of an activity or on their own, and our exclusive gum tree forest campsite is ideal for couples and families
who enjoy the peace and quiet.

Advance booking for all activities is essential. We look forward to welcoming you.
