The Cape Sports Center on the shores of the Langebaan Lagoon is unique and is the biggest water sports activity centre on the West Coast – indeed the only one of its kind in South Africa. With a variety of activities there is something for the whole family – and we also cater for adrenalin junkies.
Start your day off early, experience the tranquility of a windless morning on the Langebaan Lagoon by renting a kayak or a stand up paddle board (SUP). The clear, flat water of the lagoon and the stable watercraft ensure a fun experience with a body-toning benefit. The paddling is unguided but safe, and you will get some useful tips from our rental staff. Go for a cruise around Schaapenzicht Island to watch some bird life and the white rabbits. Perhaps you will have a chance to paddle with seals, dolphins, and if you are lucky, with whales. Whilst paddling along the shores of the lagoon on a SUP board you might have fun learning to ride the odd small wave.
The windsurfing and kitesurfing rental and tuition facilities are situated right on the white, sandy beaches of the ‘Cape Sports Center Bay’, where the turquoise waters and the reliable wind offer the ideal playground for wind sport enthusiasts.
From October to April we enjoy windy days, with beginner’s conditions in the mornings and stronger wind for the more experienced in the afternoon.
