“The Blue Mountain Trail (sister to the Green Mountain Trail) takes hikers even closer to the ocean and into protected land on the opposite side of the Elgin Valley.
This is a very manageable and well paced hike that offers three days of slackpacking that takes you past the Bot River, with views towards the wheat fields of the Overberg, before descending into the Elgin Valley. You spend time in the Paardeberg mountains above Kleinmond, and have the privilege of walking in the Kogelberg before following the Palmiet River on the last day.
In total the trail is just over 50km and winds through wilderness, reserves, vineyards and fruit producing farms, as well as through tall gorgeous protected fynbos.”
