Based in Simon’s Town, 45-minutes from Cape Town, Apex Shark Expeditions aims to improve people’s understanding of great white sharks. They believe that the only way that people develop a love for, and a need to conserve wildlife, is through exposure to it. As a result of their expertise and professionalism, Apex has facilitated and hosted many well-known shark documentaries over the years.
Their daily shark tours offer guests the opportunity to observe shark behaviour from the deck of their boat and in the water from within their shark diving cage. They specialise in small groups and an eco-friendly approach to observing not only great white sharks, but also seven gill cow sharks, mako sharks, blue sharks, whales and other marine wildlife.
Although their marine dives and marine tours depart from Simon’s Town throughout the year, shark cage diving in the waters around Seal Island in False Bay only takes place from February to September. Morning and afternoon trips are three to four hours in duration, departing daily. From October to January, when False Bay is out-of-season, Apex Shark Expeditions will book you on great white tours in Gansbaai with their sister operator at no extra cost. Located two hours from Cape Town, these shark cage diving trips take place in ‘Shark Alley’ in the waters off Dyer Island.
There is a huge variety of marine wildlife in False Bay and many of these animals are only seen at certain times of the year. While specific species sightings can never be guaranteed, you are assured of a memorable experience of marine wildlife while at sea.
On every trip, coffee / tea, light breakfast, passionate crew, educational booklet, dive gear, light lunch, snacks & refreshments are included. Groups are small and door-to-door transfers can be arranged on request.
