Zip Line in South Africa.

South African zip lining as an activity has taken off and is one of the most popular aerial cable-type activities around.

I still refer to a zip line as a foefie slide, as we use to call our homemade ones from the chimney of the house down into the garden.  Zip lines have certainly come a long way since those times.  Originally used by mountaineers to move their equipment and themselves from one area to another.

The zip line that made zip lining in South Africa popular is the one at Sun City, Zip 2000 operated by Unreal.  This zip line reaches spectacular speeds and is about 2 kilometres long.  So if you are going to choose one to do, this extreme foefie slide should be the one.

Today zip lines are available in all the major centers in South Africa and close to all the top tourist attractions.

From the Garden Route to the Drakensberg and everywhere in-between.

So when you are next on an adventure holiday in South Africa keep an eye out for a zip line operator and stop for some quick excitement, with the emphasis on quick.  The speed of a zip line is controlled by the angle of installation and its length.  In South Africa, there is even a zip line that needs a parachute to slow you down.

Above is a comprehensive list of zip line operators in all the regions of South Africa, Eswatini (Swaziland), and Lesotho.
