From late autumn to early spring (about April to September) Walker Bay is just crowded with southern right whales that have travelled north from Antarctica to frolic, mate and calve in the warm protected waters. You can see them easily from the cliffs overlooking the ocean, but a trip in a licenced whale watching boat will get you as close as is legally possible. You are also virtually guaranteed sightings of seals, penguins, other seabirds and quite possibly sharks. Even dolphins maybe.
