Marked and maintained trails are a key attraction of the Park Rynie area. Trail runners from the city of Durban are drawn to experience the forests and sugarcane fields that surround this South Coast village.
The running trails, established by Rocky Bay Resorts in association with private landowners, range from 4 to 10 kilometres in distance. Visitors can expect coastal scenery, views of the sea, indigenous forest, wide-open sugarcane fields and beautiful beach sections.
Day visitors to Rocky Bay Resorts are welcome and an entry rate is charged for using the trails. Regular visitors have the option of purchasing cards that allow multiple entries at discounted rates.
Hot and sweaty runners will appreciate a refreshing swim in the resort's fresh-water swimming pool as well as the delicious meals and ice-cold refreshments that are available from the restaurant.
Located less than an hour from Durban, the Park Rynie running trails are accessible for both day and overnight visitors. Note that dogs are not allowed on these trails.
