River Rafting in Cape Town - Weekend paddling trips.
River rafting is one of the oldest adventure activities in Cape Town which means the service providers are extremely experienced with a wealth of knowledge that goes a long way to creating the perfect river trip. Ironically, Cape Town itself doesn’t have runnable rivers, only small streams that burble off Table Mountain, but it Is a springboard to some memorable river rafting options further afield.
Closest river rafting option to Cape Town is the feisty Palmiet River. This river fires up during the winter rain fall and provides conditions for an exciting day trip in the most beautiful mountain setting. Next up is the Breede River, about 2 hours from Cape Town, which winds through tranquil farmlands, offering fun little rapids and long serene pools and is ideal for the whole family. The Doring River in the foothills of the Cederberg is a challenging rugged option which gives you a chance to spend a couple of days in one of the Cape’s most strikingly beautiful landscapes. Finally, there’s the grand old favourite, the Orange River, up on the Namibian border, this river spawned the river rafting scene in the 80’s and is still a favourite for a multi-day adventure that you’ll never forget.
