The resort-town of Port Edward, on the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal, has the famed Wild Coast on its doorstep and is surrounded by the best that the South Coast region has to offer visitors.
The best way to experience an area is to walk through it. Feel the earth (and beach sand) under your feet, breathe in the scents of the area and have the chance to stop and smell the wild flowers.
Three- or four-day guided walks offer an immersion experience. Spend the days hiking along the coast and through rural areas, and then overnight at specially selected venues.
Along the way you will see magnificent beaches, waterfalls, deep river gorges, wildlife, exceptional plant diversity, birdlife, forests and grasslands. Walking past the traditional homesteads that dot the green hills overlooking the coast is a cultural highlight. There are even fossils, a petrified forest and a desert to be explored in the area. Your hiking journey ends on the Wild Coast.
Tours are led by community-based guides who will give you insight into the history of the area, pointing out features along your route.
Multi-day hikes must be booked in advance.
