If you want to spend time with Africa’s most beloved animal, Gqeberha is your quickest springboard. The African elephant lends its name to Gqeberha’s closest National Park- The Addo Elephant. While you will see great herds of the majestic creatures here, (some coming alarmingly close to your vehicle), due to the presence of predators, you cannot walk with elephants in the main area of the park. If this is a dream, don’t despair. There are many conservancies and game parks withing an hour or two’s drive or a quick flight from Gqeberha that offer well run and ethical interactive experiences with elephants.
