Although your original plans for your visit to the charming KwaZulu-Natal South Coast town of Southbroom included time on the beach, a swim in the sea and more time on the beach, add a visit to the Riverbend Crocodile Farm for a crocodile tour to your itinerary.
Home to over 200 Nile crocodiles, Riverbend is open every day to give you the opportunity to view these large reptiles up-close and to learn about their behaviour through talks and demonstrations. If you get your timing right, you may witness crocodiles hatching (in December, January and February). Or, be there at 15h00 on Wednesdays (in the summer months) and on Sundays (throughout the year) to witness crocodiles in a feeding frenzy at meal time.
Riverbend is also home to a variety of beautiful and deadly snakes. View them in modern enclosures or time your visit to catch the weekly snake demonstration, which takes place every Sunday at 14h30 (with additional demos scheduled during the busy holiday seasons).
This crocodile farm is located a few minutes by car from Southbroom.
