Canoeing in Wilderness - Guided paddling trips.
Wilderness is home to one of the Garden Route National Parks most important assets; its coastal lake system. These tranquil waterways (there are five lakes), fringed by dense indigenous forests and reeds and rushes, can be fully appreciated from a canoe. As you quietly explore these protected lakes you will have a chance to see some of the Garden Routes most precious inhabitants. The marsh and reed beds support birds like the African Marsh Harrier who’s spectacular hunting acrobatics, you may be able to observe. While paddling past forests look out for the iridescent green Knysna turaco and iridescent blue Malachite kingfisher.
Rent a canoe and all the gear, including waterproof containers to keep all your kit and your picnic dry, and explore the safe and stunningly beautiful waterways of the Ebb and Flow Rest Camp at your leisure. Or join a guided canoe trip and benefit from the extensive knowledge that local guides have of the area.
